A new
article on ORGYN.COM states that water births have excellent outcomes in low-risk women. Now it's proven officially that women who give birth while immersed in a tub of water have shorter labors, shorter births, less need for pain medication and less episiotomies. And the birth outcomes are at least as good as those of women who give birth on dry land.
Now let's hope that the Jerusalem hospitals will pick up on this, and install tubs in every room and actually allow women to give birth in them!

Did you ever attend or hear of anyone actually doing a waterbirth in Israel? I was just at Tel Hashomer checking out their natural birth center and they told me that even though they have tubs (albeit small ones) in the rooms hospital policy says that they are not allowed to do waterbirthing. Is this true in all hospital settings here? Do you know of anyone or anywhere you can rent birthing tubs/pools in Israel?
My brother Lewis was born in a hospital water birth in Israel in the early 90's. He is 17 as of September this year!
